Work Crew Applications Summer 2026

Lets hear it for the work creeewwww!

It’s time to get the ball rolling on Work Crew applications. Work Crew applications are open, and will be rolling on a first come first serve basis. The sooner the better!

Work Crew Registrations:

All Work Crew recommendations and applications are done online through YL Connect Camp.

Here’s a quick guide on how to recommend a candidate:

  1. Before you start! You need to have basic information on your candidate. Name, email, mission unit, etc., If they have been to a camp trip in your area, you can look them up and go from there! Have their preference for camp choices 1-3 ready to go.
  2. Note: for Work Crew, the recommendation comes first from a staff person (or volunteer). For summer staff, they apply and you receive an email with their recommendation second!
  3. Access the WC Rec Portal on Camp Home in YLC- start from there.

3. Fill out this form for our region to rank your applicants:

4. When the recommendation is finished on your end, it will send to the email on file with the work crew applicant- encourage them to fill it out as soon as possible!

5. After the applicant has finished their form, it will be sent to the region to place or add to a waitlist.

Checking Status of Applications

With the Work Crew recommendation and application process now being in YL Connect, you can follow up with the status of your applicants easily!

Search for Field: Work Crew Applications. This is a report that show you the status of the applicants from your area. Please follow up with applicants if they have missing pieces on their end.

Regional Work Crew Allocation

Here are the Work Crew spots our region has been allocated for Summer 2026.

  • The region receives a specific number of spots for the summer at certain camps. If you want your applicant to be placed at a camp outside of our allocated spots, they will be put on a wait list. The sooner the better for this!

Assignment Team Work Crew Spots

Those of you with an assignment should have received separate communication from your Camp Director on how to request A-Team WC spots. If your Camp Director gave you an Assignment Team WC spot, you will need to indicate that on the Work Crew Priority form.

Additional Information about the Work Crew Process

  • Only prioritize qualified applicants – if you do not think a kid is ready to do Work Crew or if your only reason for recommending them is because “it will be good for them” then do NOT recommend them and include them in your area priority. Have the necessary hard conversations on the front end.
  • 2nd Timers – applications from 2nd time WC applicants will be accepted. First time applicants will be given priority but if there are spots available, 2nd time applicants will be placed.
  • Flexible Availability – Please encourage kids to be flexible with their availability and where they can serve.  There are not enough spots for everyone to serve at Rockbridge in July.
  • Official Acceptance – Applicants, both accepted and wait listed applicants, will hear directly from camps regarding the status of their applications. Typically this will be on March 17th.
